Meeting With CEO and Definition of Role
Today I had a long sit-down with Anand Shah, the CEO of Sarvajal. An American born Indian-American in his mid-30’s with permanent residence in India, Anand is full of energy, passion and vision for the Sarvajal business, and I look forward to working with him.
Aside from getting to know each other, Anand and I discussed my plan for the next five months and my role in the organization. While I walked him through my Marketing Plan and general timeline (see my post, The Tasks At Hand, on 7/4), we also discussed how to bring me even further outside of my comfort zone with the scope of my work. We decided that I would tackle the broader issue of Sarvajal’s business development as detailed in the below diagram - double click the chart for an expanded view:

Though this expanded set of responsibilities will provide additional challenges, they will allow me to more broadly and unilaterally execute my plan.
We also discussed my living location, and decided it best that I relocate to Sarvajal's main headquarters in Ahmedabad, about 500 miles southwest of Bagar. Once there, I will be able to work closely with the team on my strategy and execution, but will also come back to the office here in Bagar when needed, as it is much closer to the majority of our franchisees.
