Model
Piramal Water sells water under the brand name “Sarvajal” – or “water for everyone”.
Our operations focus on a franchise model that enables rural entrepreneurs to start businesses which provide purified drinking water to their communities. Customers purchase prepaid cards in 10L and 20L denominations; they come to the outlet to purchase water filled in their own containers or in innovative carboys purchased from Sarvajal. Some franchise locations also offer economical daily delivery of water.
Water is sourced locally, processed locally, and sold locally. By developing a community-based and distributed model, Sarvajal is available at a fraction of the prevailing market rates for purified water.
Piramal Water owns, installs, services, and maintains water purification machinery that is customized by location and source water quality. The company maintains uniform quality standards and monitors them continuously to ensure the safety of water leaving our installed machinery.
Franchisees are water entrepreneurs who are trained to operate the machines, ensure the highest standards of hygiene, and promote the benefits of pure drinking water to their communities. They are provided with a business start-up kit that includes health promotion materials, operations manuals, marketing collateral, branding tools, and business development resources.
In addition, a Sarvajal representative is available to assist new franchisees on-call and on-site during the first few months of operation to help each outlet generate a reliable customer base and promote the benefits of clean water.
We are constantly looking for innovations that help us make a low-cost, distributed business model viable for our deployment conditions. This includes developing cutting-edge technological solutions that help us keep track of our machinery, the performance of each franchise, and the way end customers use our products and services. Our goal is to create a business model that works backwards from the solution we are strive to provide.
Our franchise network includes both entrepreneur-owned and company-owned outlets.
